Expectations

As of Friday, June 18th, Bill had completed 560 miles on his new bike.  It may be about all he gets as the next several weeks will be busy with visitors, holidays, and completing last-minute things before he leaves for about 3 months.

His bike was in for adjustments for a week, in which 16 out of 17 corrections were made.  They have done what they can and even though it's not perfect, it's going to be what Bill has to work with during his trip.  They replaced the handlebar and the defected tired, which was one of the reasons why the bike wobbled.  He is going to add the racks and a rear light, which flashes, adjust the panniers, and then go through his check-off list to make sure he has all the other necessary items for his trip.  He also wants to figure out why his hands keep falling asleep to come up with a solution before he leaves.

As a talked with my dad, I noticed he has expectations for this ride based on his first ride.  On his first ride, he didn't know what to expect.  He prepared whatever he could and just went out and did it.  He learned and experienced many things along the way.  Now as he prepares, he remembers some of those difficult days and has some expectations for what he will experience.  He hopes that he takes the lessons to help him during this trip, while remaining flexible to be creative in how he handles the various situations he might experience.
